I have, like most proxy developers and users, seen many different types of proxy websites. There are these niche-proxies like “unblock facebook”, “unblock myspace”, etc. that target a certain market, and there are some proxies that is just a random mix between numbers and letters. I’ve seen them both, and there are pros and cons by choosing either one of them.

A brandable proxy will probably drive more direct traffic than other proxies because it is easier to remember. But it will most likely be blocked a lot faster than a regular non-brandable proxy. Also, targeting a specific niche with your Proxy like “Unblock Bebo” can convert better if you offer the visitor the right advertsiement.

That market for proxies has grown remarkable after high schools and colleges started to block social networks like Facebook and MySpace. This makes the facebook-proxies extremely popular, and more proxy websites is targeting this specific niche-branding.

I still miss uniqe quality proxy websites with creative brandnames and special feautures we haven’t seen yet.
